How to create a Honeybook lead form for paid consultations

Introduction to Honeybook Lead Forms

Do you want to create a public-facing page in Honeybook for clients to book a paid consultation? Honeybook lead forms is one of my favorite features of the CRM, and they allow you to easily to do that without needing another platform.

Essentially, a Honeybook lead form is a smart file with a public-facing URL. You don't even need to embed this on your website! Your lead form collects important data, like your lead's name and email. You can also add pages for them to schedule a time with you and pay their invoice, which is what I'll walk you through in this post.

Honeybook vs. Calendly

What's the difference between Honeybook and Calendly? Honeybook is an all-in-one CRM, or customer relationship management platform. This blog post shares a complete review of Honeybook, but it's the platform I use for scheduling, contracts, collecting payments, and managing my potential and current clients.

Calendly is a scheduling-only platform that allows you to book free and paid consultations. While it's an advanced scheduling tool, I find the Honeybook Scheduler has everything my clients need to book a time with me. I simply create a relevant event type, connect it to my Google Calendar, add my availability, and then clients can book.

How to Create a Honeybook Lead Form

Here are the steps for creating a new Honeybook lead form to book a paid consultation—no Calendly needed.

1. Login to Honeybook and navigate to Clients > Lead Forms.

Inside of your Honeybook account, navigate to the Clients tab > Lead forms. This area hosts all your lead forms, so you can always go here if you need to edit them or turn them off or on.

2. Click "Create New" and choose a template or start from blank.

It's up to you if you'd like to start from scratch or use an existing Honeybook template. For this example, I'll start from blank.

If you're using a template, I recommend starting with the "One-time consultation" option. This is best if you're setting up a paid consultation.

3. Brainstorm a layout that makes sense for your paid consultation.

Consider what information you need upfront before clients even book. Do you have agreements they need to check off to move forward? Do you want them to sign a contract? Or, do you prefer to keep things simple with clients providing their information, booking their time, and paying?

Personally, for 60-minute strategy sessions, I keep my Honeybook lead form really simple. I collect their basic information (name and email), allow them to select a time, and pay their invoice. I do this because after they submit their lead form, they receive an automated email with a more in-depth questionnaire that's due prior to our call. I'll share how to do this at the end of the blog post!

4. Customize Honeybook lead form with necessary pages.

Based on the layout you came up with in step #3, it's time to customize your Honeybook lead form. Add the appropriate number of pages and blocks, to ensure you're collecting information.

The two non-negotiable things to include are your Scheduler so they can select a time, and an Invoice and Pay page so they can pay before booking.

You may also customize your lead form using your own fonts, colors, logos, and images so it's recognizable by your community.

5. Ensure lead form includes a Scheduling block with your accurate availability and payment page.

Under the Tools > Scheduler tab, double check that your event type contains your accurate availability for this lead form. For example, my strategy sessions require 2 days minimum notice, are booked on a 6-week rolling basis, and are only available on Mondays and Fridays.

6. Publish your Honeybook lead form and share the public URL.

Once your Honeybook lead form contains all the needed pages and has your accurate availability, you're ready to publish it! Go to your settings to customize the URL slug (if desired). Then, click "Share" in the top righthand corner and make sure your form is set to live.

Now your form is ready to publish! You can copy the link or embed code for your website from the popup when you hit "Share". Another way is on the Clients > Lead forms page, you can hover over your lead form and click "Copy link".

Optional: Set up a Honeybook automation to capture information prior to your paid consultation.

As an optional bonus, set up an automation to capture information prior to your paid consultation. For me, I send out a detailed questionnaire that's due 48 hours before our call. This helps me prep for the call so we can make the most of every minute together.

If you'd like to set this up, first create a smart file with all the questions for your lead to answer. You can do this by going to Templates > File templates > Create new. Add blocks with all your necessary questions.

Then, Navigate to Automations > New automation. Your first action should be "Send smart file via email". Select the email template you just created. Then, under "Send via email", select or create a new email template to go with your questionnaire.

Click "Save", then go back to your automations. Under "Activate via lead form", make sure your new lead form is selected. That's it—now someone will automatically be sent a questionnaire after booking through your lead form!
