How to Create a Landing Page in Flodesk (without Needing a Website)

In this blog post, I'll walk you through the process of creating a landing page, or place for people to give you their email address, in Flodesk—no website required.

Importance of Email Marketing

Before we cover the steps needed to build a landing page, why is email marketing important? Email marketing is one of the most effective ways to boost your visibility, grow your community, and convert more customers and clients for your business.

Steps to Create a Landing Page in Flodesk

Now that you have an understanding of what Flodesk is, let's dive into the steps to create a landing page in Flodesk. Your landing page is a public URL where you can collect names and email addresses to build your list. This is an example of a landing page I created in Flodesk. Keep in mind that throughout this post, a full page form is the same thing as a landing page.

1. Login or sign up for a 30-day free trial of Flodesk.

Of course, you're going to need a Flodesk account to start. Login to your existing account, but no worries if you don't have one yet! 2. Create a new full page form.

Once you login, navigate to Forms > + New Form. Under "Choose a form type", click "Full page". From there, you'll see all of the beautiful full page form templates to choose from!

Scroll through the options, and click on the template you like the most. Keep in mind that all the text, colors, fonts, and images are customizable, so you can add your own branding once you get into the template.

3. Select which segment people will go to after filling out the form.

Before you're able to customize the form, Flodesk will prompt you to choose a segment. This means that whoever fill out the form will automatically be added to this segment. This is exactly how to organize your email list!

For example, say the purpose of your landing page is to collect email addresses for your business anniversary giveaway. The segment may simply be called "Business Anniversary Giveaway". You can either choose to create a new segment or add people to an existing one.

4. Edit your text, image, and add your own branding.

After selecting your segment, it's time to customize! Click within the form to swap in your own images and update text. Change the colors, fonts, font size, alignment, spacing, and more. If you'd like to, you can add preferences so subscribers can select which topics interest them the most. Lastly, choose a success message to appear when someone fills out the form—or create a custom message like "Thank you for entering! The winner will be contacted on May 6, 2024."

Once your form is ready, click "Share" and copy the URL. In the settings section, you have the ability to customize the metadata preview image, title, and description (used on search engines and social media), as well as the link URL.

5. Copy and paste the form URL.

Now that everything is customized and ready to go, copy and paste your landing page URL. If you add that URL to a new browser tab, you'll see that the form is now live and ready to collect subscribers!

6. Promote your landing page URL consistently to grow your email list.

Creating your landing page isn't enough; you must promote it if you want it to convert. Share your landing page URL consistently on your social media, website, blog, and media features. If you're offering a lead magnet in exchange for filling out the form (highly recommend), create content tailored to that lead magnet and promote the URL. This is how you consistently grow your email list.
